The HD86 is a DLP projector by Optoma, whose specifications list 1600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 50000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 2000 hours before a replacement is necessary. Both optical image shifting (lens shift) and digital keystone adjustment are included, enabling exact alignment on the screen. To meet a wide variety of installation conditions, the projector offers the option of using different interchangeable lenses. Verifying the respective distances is easily possible via the Projection Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 406 cm can be illuminated with 1600 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 271 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. With a value of only 29 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. Since entering the market in 2009, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

The best picture Ive seen so far. High contrast and perfect color reproduction. Large shift range.
There is currently nothing better in this price range!

HD 86 vs HD 82
Could compare both projectors - have an HD82 myself.
The HD86 has an improved intermediate image calculation (Pure Motion), where you can also watch at level 2 without any problems. Level 3 no longer has that very distinct soap-box look. The HD82 only worked properly at level 1, but NTSC DVDs didn‘t work at all - regardless of the level, as there were still artifacts and image judder. Picture sharpness hasn‘t changed either.
The HD86 also gives you the choice of 3 lenses, which you can easily change at the touch of a button.
In short - the HD86 is an improved HD82, but only in terms of intermediate picture calculation.

This was a movie theater experience
We were able to see this projector for ourselves in London. IT WAS SIMPLY GIGANTIC. With some Blu-Rays we had the impression it was 3D cinema. But it‘s not. The black was really black and the contrast was unrivaled. Unfortunately, none of them were in stock, so we tried again in Germany. Unfortunately, they won‘t be available until September and then only for pre-orders, as the German contingent has already been sold for 2009. You must have seen it in 2010.

Comparison HD 86 to HD 82
How do the HD82 and HD86 differ in picture quality?
Are there big differences, if so, what are they?

Sharp
I am the proud owner of an HD 82 which already had the best picture of all projectors. Sony and co. were garbage in comparison. But even against the HD 86 there is nothing comparable, neither in contrast, sharpness, brightness nor black reproduction.

This is the perfect cinema experience
I thought there was nothing better than the Epson EH TW5000, Optoma has shown that it can always be better. I ordered one straight away. The picture was bright, super rich in contrast. The black was black. The device could not be heard. Perfect)

Have seen many projectors in my long professional career, but this one is by far the best.
