The HD28i model is a 3D-DLP projector from Optoma, intended for Standard-Portabel applications, offering 4000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 50000:1 at HDTV 1920 x 1080. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 5000 hours, which amounts to roughly 6.8 years at 2 hours of daily use. Looking at practical performance, up to 643 cm can be illuminated with 4000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 429 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content as well as 3D. Furthermore, the model supports 360° projections for highly flexible deployment scenarios. The projector was released in 2022 and is officially no longer distributed by Optoma.

Despite the marketing as a gaming projector or daylight projector, I bought the Optoma for my home theater. I am completely satisfied. If you take into account the limitations of the setup (hardly any zoom, little keystone correction, no lens shift), you get a powerful picture. The black level and brightness are well balanced for this price. The fan in particular is very pleasant: a gentle hiss in normal operation - not unpleasant - and virtually inaudible in eco mode.
