This projector from Optoma utilizes Laser-BrilliantColor-DLP technology, achieving 1300 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 3000:1 at a resolution of HDTV 1280 x 720. According to Optoma, the lamp has a durability of 2000 hours. Regarding projection size, the value of 1300 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 366 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 244 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. The projector was released in 2008 and is officially no longer distributed by Optoma. However, it remains one of the frequently accessed models in our database.

Top Beamer
Have had the projector since 2008 and have the 3rd lamp in it and the second color wheel. It is currently flickering again, where I assume the color wheel, but the first time it flickered it was enough to clean it with alcohol swabs. (Attention: fragile.) For 3-4 years I have been dismantling the projector once a year except for the lens, cleaning the fans, the color wheel etc. with compressed air and alcohol swabs. I‘ve also had it display fan blocked and go out again. Cleaning the fan was enough. And so it will be 10 years old next year. First lamp had 2000 hours, second lamp around 1300-1400 hours and with the third I should also have around 1500 hours. I just made sure that it runs for at least 1-2 hours when it‘s on. Watch normal TV on it with Onkyo reciever and Teufel system.

Great projector
1A projector!
Good picture.
DLP technology (I‘ll never get an LCD again).
Can go up to 100Hz (optionally with Optoma expansion kit also 3D).
Lamp is available cheaply from Asia (approx. 69-89 euros).

Info: Flickering!
Flickering and shimmering is a sign of a defective color wheel, unfortunately a replacement is very expensive 180-245 euros. I wanted to mention this here because it has happened to me twice... first flickering... then with a projector... it went POOF... the color wheel burst!

3 years and still top
Have had the projector for over three years now and am completely satisfied. The LCD projectors I know don‘t stand a chance against it. The screen (1 month old and really a big improvement on a bare wall) hangs above a 42" plasma...PS3 and films only run via projector, even if the plasma gives a better picture.

Elegant!
I have been using this projector for over 2 years. Fantastic picture and very good black level. The original lamp lasts over 3000 hours in ECO! So don‘t worry. If this projector is used in a smoke-free room, you should clean the fans a little 1-2 times a year. The noise level is very quiet and not disturbing. The modes for the applications: Graphics, PC, video and much more are very comprehensive. The color display and illumination are also absolutely FULL! Sharpness and brilliance are really guaranteed in 720p mode. In short, with a decent screen, the device puts some HD televisions in the shade. It‘s worth the money!

Unbelievable runtime
I‘ve always been extremely satisfied with the picture and don‘t want to say anything more about it.
But what is incredible is the life of the lamp!
I bought the projector in 2008, since then it has run for about 10,000 hours in ECO mode according to my rough calculation! I have no idea why and how this can happen, but I have to say that I don‘t handle the projector particularly well, transport it in the car without packaging and it sometimes flies around in the trunk. I bought a replacement lamp a year ago but haven‘t needed it yet, it really is incredible!

Help
Good evening,
I am using an Optoma HD 700X DLP projector. I am very satisfied with the product so far, but now I have a problem that my picture flickers (color change)...
What do I have to do, replace fan, lamp...?

Good projector
I also had to say goodbye to the lamp at around 700 hours, despite ECO mode
Meanwhile I let it run at "high altitude" for 5 minutes before switching it off
and already have over 1200 hours on the clock.
Sometimes I have a flickering in the left corner, but a few hours of "bright" lamp mode helps
Apart from that, I‘m very satisfied.

Top projector - but the lamp...
Hello!
Have had the projector for about 2 years now and am completely satisfied with it!
Delivers a top picture whether with Xbox, PC or DVD player.
Volume I find no problem. It hangs right above me on the ceiling and doesn‘t even interfere with quiet movie scenes. (you can hear it - but it doesn‘t bother you)
Now for the only negative part, the lamp. The projector had been running for around 900 hours and out of nowhere the lamp went out with a bang.
Whereby approx. 2000-3000h are specified. All in all, I recommend the projector to anyone who wants to have a piece of cinema at home!

Review
Hello,
I‘ve had the HD 700X for almost 2 years. In general, I have to say that the projector does a decent job for its price. However, I have often had problems! The lamps do not reach the prescribed service life, I already have the 3rd lamp in it! None of the lamps reached a service life of over 1000 hours (2000 hours in normal mode or 3000 hours in eco mode would be prescribed). However, I have to say that I use the projector daily and extensively (maybe that‘s the reason? Who wouldn‘t? The thing is awesome) The device seems to be very, very susceptible to dust and dirt. I‘ve had to send mine in for service for the second time. Because once enough dust has accumulated, it‘s off! The picture then starts to flicker in all sorts of colors, first slightly and then it gets worse and worse. But the best is yet to come: Medical Care & Support GmbH, the company that provides support for Optoma in Germany and Austria, only offers its service once free of charge if you have any problems with the device. If another problem arises, you will be asked to pay even if the device is still under warranty. No, this is not a joke. Of course I hope none of you ever have to go through this, because I‘m at the end of my tether at the moment
Well, I hope that helps. Despite all the problems, it‘s a great piece of kit, of course you could buy a Full HD 42" LCD flatscreen, but a projector is still a projector.

I have had the projector for about 4 months and am very satisfied with the price/performance ratio,
Connected via receiver are DVBT, consoles, PC.
So far no problems with scaling and frequencies. Unfortunately, I can‘t judge it as accurately as the professionals, but it works great
Completely adequate in this price range, you can easily buy it!

24p...
I‘ve been using this projector since Nov. 08.
I can only say this much about 24p:
According to Optoma Germany, the projector converts internally back to 60Hz.
When I watch a Bluray at 60Hz (set in the player), I have these micro-jerks and that gets really annoying over time. However, if I set the player to 24p output, I don‘t have these micro-jerks.
That‘s why I think the projector is probably displaying this at 48Hz or 72Hz.
In any case, the fan noise is louder than at 60Hz... or is it also the color screen, which may then rotate even higher. But that in turn would speak in favor of a 72Hz output.
To examine the whole thing a little more closely, I connected my PC in parallel and played different frequencies 50Hz, 60Hz and 72Hz.
With the direct comparison, I came to the conclusion that the Optoma must output this at 72 Hz, as the volume of the 24p Bluray feed sounded equally loud to me with a 72Hz PC feed.
However, you know the difference between 24p feed and 60Hz feed very well.

Satisfied so far
Hi, I have also had the projector for some time and am very satisfied with the price/performance ratio. The picture via HDMI and analog VGA is (subjectively) great in terms of color and contrast. I can detect a rainbow effect with a little effort, but I am the only one with this. What I have noticed interestingly is that when I change the standard "Cinema" setting (where photos look a little strangely colored) to another setting, the RBE seems to become much stronger. I even got a headache after watching a movie for an hour! This was never the case in the standard "Cinema" setting. Can others confirm this too? Regarding 24p, I can say that the projector accepts 1080p24 and 720p24. But I once read that the projector converts this back to 60hz internally anyway. So it might not do any good at all. Can anyone confirm or contradict this?

Very good price/performance ratio
Ive had the Optoma since January 2008 and Im still very satisfied. Whether XBOX 360, PS3 games, Blu-rays or DVDs, there is nothing to complain about. Even with the ceiling light on, the picture is still good. The fan is negligible because the sound of the game or movie is always louder. Conclusion: a great entry-level model for the money.

very good entry-level device
I have had the 700X for 3 days now and I am thrilled with the picture quality. Especially when watching HD movies via HDMI, the picture is excellent. I watch on a 3.5m wide screen in a completely dark attic. I was amazed at the brightness of the projector, but the 1300 Ansilumen are enough to display rich colors and high contrasts well on a 3m screen. The fan noise is not noticeable when watching in eco mode, which is very pleasant. The brightness difference between eco and normal mode is so small that you can hardly tell there is a change. The picture can be nicely adjusted to local conditions and the film material, the menu navigation is logically structured and offers all the necessary functions. However, it is strange that there is no fan run-on after switching off and you have to fear for the sensitive inner workings of the projector. However, Optoma has certainly thought of something. Nevertheless, I opened the device, bridged the fan and reconnected it to the power supply via an external electronic timer. This means that it remains active for 5 minutes after the device has been switched off and I have a better conscience ;-)
I could not see the rainbow effect, apparently I am not sensitive to it but my friends did not notice it either so it must be very small.
In my opinion, there is no better entry-level device for the price of 500 euros. I can only recommend the projector to everyone.

Very good price/performance ratio
I searched for a long time to find a suitable projector. Initially, I was hesitant to buy the HD700X.
But after the device arrived and I saw the first movie, I was very satisfied with it.
The fan noise is hardly disturbing for me in Eco mode. The picture meets my requirements and the setting options via the menu are also more than satisfactory for me. Most of the settings remain at default or at "0".
The projector is controlled via a 10m long SVideo cable.
The rainbow effect that occurs with this device is also very small, actually negligible. There are devices from ACER, for example, where you can see the effect almost permanently
For my use in my home theater clearly 100 points! A clear recommendation in this price range.

Flickering picture with HDMI
Have had the HD700 for almost half a year now and am still fascinated by the price-performance ratio.
However, I have recently noticed red flickering and lots of red dots in the picture when playing PS3 in dark areas.
The lamp has now had 400 hours and the PS3 has always been connected to the projector via HDMI cable. To rule out that it‘s the PS3, I connected another one and it was the same
Could the red flickering be caused by the bulb
Would probably call the service department!

RBE Extreme
I was thrilled with the projector at first.
Optically great,
handling (considering that there is no lens shift) ok,
menu navigation very good,
volume not as high as expected,
then came the shock. Keyword: RBE-Extreme...
Unfortunately I can‘t compare with other DLP beamers and maybe all my friends and I are susceptible to the effect... In any case, it was very strong for our sensations.
Conclusion: If you have no problems with RBE and are looking for a cheap HD-Ready projector, the HD 700X is a good choice, everyone else should keep their hands off it. Benq W500 is ordered.

Phil‘s flickering picture ;-)
Hello Phil,
I only have the problem with the picture and the fan getting louder when I have the IMAGE AI function switched on. It is used to better display darker scenes in a movie. The lamp then gets more power and therefore the fan also gets louder. I have switched this function off and I am still so impressed with the device!

Good and cheap... but there are also downsides
I‘ve owned the projector since September 2008. So far, the lamp has done 80 hours of work.
At the beginning, I was completely convinced by this projector. It offers a great display for me as a beginner. I use the projector with a 240cm screen.
Unfortunately, I‘m now finding that the quality of the projector is deteriorating.
When you‘re in ECO mode, the picture flickers.
So it always gets slightly brighter and then darker again...
In bright mode it‘s not like that, although the projector then gets louder (fan speed increases) and the bulb‘s performance is reduced.
It‘s just a projector for under 500 euros.
I haven‘t noticed a DLP effect yet, so I‘d say toi toi toi.
If you‘re looking for a cheap entry into the world of projectors, I warmly recommend the Optoma X700HD. Because you can‘t get a better projector for this price!

I‘ve had this projector for 1 week now and am delighted with the resolution and display. No noticeable RGB effect, very impressive colors and easy to use, especially if you only have a tripod screen.
Practical and lightweight, the projector is a real shopping tip in HD-Ready. But also movies in Full HD interpolated super sharp. Definitely try it out.

Prima device for a small price
This HD700x has been replacing my old Toshiba S25 for 3 days.
Picture wall: 276cm wide just a painted white wall, no screen yet.
Lamp mode: Standard (corresponds to ECO mode)
DVD played via HDMI with only 576p.
Everything else casts such strange ghost shadows. Picture is very smooth yet sharp. Could it be that the integrated scaler is better than that of the Panasonic S53?
In contrast, I had the sharpest picture on the plasma at 1080p.
Picture mode: bright (probably unavoidable with this picture width),
as only the gamma in this mode prevents details from dropping off in black. However, even in this mode the contrast and brightness are still adjusted.
Test via S-Video: here too a smooth picture but somewhat blurrier than HDMI.
Test via video input: probably the worst way to control the projector. Blurred, strong image noise in all zones, sometimes even real flickering.
RBE: For me, this projector is no longer perceptible in normal operation!
Worlds better than the old Toshiba S25, whose RBE I could just about live with. (you probably get used to a lot)
The projector is pleasantly quiet, still perceptible but not annoying, as there is no high-pitched whistling.
What else I noticed about the image position:
The image size and image position is not constant, it varies by 1-2 cm depending on the DVD inserted.
Here white is also white again, that‘s when I realized how worn out the lamp of the old Toshiba S25 with its 1000 hours actually already was. A huge difference!
A process that naturally took place rather gradually over the course of 3 years of use.

SUPER
Have had the device for 3 days and yesterday it had its first movie night - mastered without any problems. I am completely thrilled with this device.
Had the Infocus X1a before and am therefore used to DLP technology (which I find much BETTER than LCD, by the way) but am also not so sensitive to the beloved RBE.
Have optimized the picture a bit in terms of contrast, brightness and color (thanks to various test discs), although I found it good out-of-the-box, just a touch too dark and too contrasty.
The Toshiba HD-EP10 is used as a player via HDMI and the picture really rocks - I run it at 1080p/24 (which has worked well since the 4.0 firmware update) - whether from DVD (super upscaler) or from HD-DVD *sob*
For the price (515 including shipping - NEW) I really recommend it to everyone.
I would like to pick up a tip for switching off from below and also pass it on here:
Since the fan unfortunately does NOT run (only Optoma knows why), I also recommend setting it to HIGH HEIGHT in the setup before switching it off. If you now set it to auto-off for about 3 minutes and then simply switch off the player, it will run for 3 minutes with a strong fan before switching off automatically.

Have been using this projector for a few days, previously had the Acer H5350, which I packed up again after 2 hours because I got a headache from all the RBE!
With the Optoma HD700X I‘ve been able to watch for several hours and I‘ve very rarely noticed any RBE (high contrast scenes) but nowhere near as bad as with the Acer! Volume is still within limits... the Acer was already quieter..
Conclusion: Top picture, very interesting price...

Ideal projector for getting into home theater
In my opinion, you get a lot of projector for your money (I paid 550). Volume is also completely fine in my opinion. It‘s nice and compact and small too. Chic (illuminated) FB, what more could you want :) I only see the RBE sporadically, but it doesn‘t really bother me, or maybe I‘m particularly sensitive to it. Unfortunately, I can‘t write down any long-term experience yet, but the first impression is and remains positive.

My opinion on the HD700X
Since I‘ve been looking for a good projector myself for a long time and haven‘t found much information on this interesting projector on the net, I‘d like to give you my opinion briefly.
Quality: Picture is top! Even in bright rooms, the picture is still clearly recognizable. in the dark and with a decent HD source, the picture is really impressive =) I don‘t know what more an ebamer needs to be able to do
Optics/Handling: Good! Chic illuminated remote control and the projector also looks classy. The handling is also quite simple as far as I can tell
Volume: The BEamer is not too loud for me. It does hum a little, but my PC is louder =) Most home CIneasts have the speakers turned up so loud anyway that you can‘t hear the projector =)
Rainbow effect: Neither I nor my girlfriend nor the 15 friends from the last European Championship game could see an RBE! So don‘t worry about it. And if you do see it, you have the right to exchange it
Conclusion: Good device for little money! If you‘re looking for a GOOD HD projector and don‘t necessarily want to pay a lot, you‘ve got a device here that delivers very decent performance for a good price!

Experience with the HD700X
The Optoma HD700X is my second projector. Compared to my BenQ, the smaller and more attractive design is immediately noticeable. I use the projector for overhead projection. The projector has an excellent price-performance ratio and is beyond many, if not all, doubts. The picture is amazingly bright! I would say that this projector has inherited the brightness of the HD65. The contrast is also amazing! You always have to remind yourself that you are sitting in front of an entry-level model currently costing around 600 euros. The setting options are very extensive. It takes a lot of time to adjust the colors, but the results are good and natural. Only the color red still tends slightly towards pink. Although the RBE effect is present, it is not as distracting as on older devices with DLP. The resolution is fine, simply HD! The remote control is illuminated and the projector responds very well, even with imprecise aiming with the remote control. The VGA connection is good. However, I am bothered by slight shadow images. HDMI brings a decent increase in quality. Highly recommended! No shadow images, phase shift or blurring, which is only noticeable if you have a comparison! Now a few disadvantages: Due to the compact design, the projector gets very warm!!! The fan is a bit loud and could put off sensitive people. Unfortunately, the fan does NOT run after the lamp goes out to prevent heat build-up. I think this is negligent, as the projector heats up very quickly and you can burn your fingers from the escaping air! Unfortunately, the optics are a little poor. The zoom is low and the image can never be completely focused, only in zones. So I have projected the sharpness onto the center while the edges are slightly blurred. Overall, the projector is still an improvement for me. I am quite satisfied. A final tip: To prevent the projector from dying of heat, you can activate the high mode for 1 to 2 minutes before switching it off to cool it down.

Great projector at a reasonable price
I‘ve had the Optoma HD700X for a few days now and I‘m delighted with the picture quality you get for the low price.
If you can live with the low zoom and the audible volume, you get a high-contrast and 3D-like picture. I don‘t notice any RBE effect and the brightness and color reproduction are great. The build quality is good and all the important connections are available. A note on the database: The projector has an offset that corresponds to that of the Optoma HD65 and, as with the HD65, an illuminated remote control is included.
Conclusion:
In the price segment of entry-level HD Ready projectors, a real highlight for a fine home theater
