As a projector, the Christie DS+5K alt combines DLP technology with a resolution of SXGA+ 1400 x 1050, and is additionally specified with 6000 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 2000:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 1000 hours. The presence of a lens shift function enables flexible vertical or horizontal positioning of the projector without digital interference. To meet a wide variety of installation conditions, the projector offers the option of using different interchangeable lenses. Verifying the respective distances is easily possible via the Distance Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 6000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 675 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 450 cm. Should very large projection surfaces be required, the integrated edge-blending software offers the possibility to seamlessly combine images from multiple projectors without visible seams. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. The projector was released in 2004 and is officially no longer distributed by Christie.
