Behind the name Heimdall is a 3D-LED-DLP projector by Barco, whose main features include 4500 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 20000:1 and a UHD (4K+2K) 4096 x 2160 resolution. With its built-in laser light source, the projector achieves a manufacturer-stated lifespan of 25000 hours – equivalent to a usable life of 17.1 years at 4 hours a day. The optical system is designed for the use of interchangeable lenses, allowing for a tailor-made configuration for almost any throw ratio. The Lens Calculator is available to calculate the exact dimensions. Looking at practical performance, up to 1437 cm can be illuminated with 4500 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 958 cm. Should very large projection surfaces be required, the integrated edge-blending software offers the possibility to seamlessly combine images from multiple projectors without visible seams. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P and 4K as well as 3D. An additional 360° projection capability allows the device to be oriented at almost any angle. Connectivity for fixed installations is rounded off by an RJ45 port for remote maintenance and an HDBaseT interface, which transmits bundled video, audio, and control data over long cable runs. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 30 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling.
