Simple tube projector, but makes an acceptable video image with the right settings, no progressive scan possible, so the TV video lines are a bit more visible in moving images than with an LCD or DLP projector.
Image width up to 300cm easily possible, an old Sanyo PLV Z1 or Z2 LCD with 800 Ansi Lumen looks very flat and contrastless at this image size in contrast.
Even with this rather small tube, the picture appears more vivid than that of all current LCDs, even with larger picture widths of 250-300 cm. The sharpness of an LCD/DLP projector cannot be achieved, but the picture still appears more cinematic than at least an older LCD such as a Sanyo Z1 could display. For someone for whom contrast like in a movie theater and zero residual black is not important, a modern DLP has an advantage due to the higher sharpness and less visible TV lines.
A 3 meter wide picture requires a 5 meter long room. 80 points for watching TV with a projector (no HDTV). 60 points for watching DVDs. (7" tube)
As this set was built in 1988-90, unfortunately there won‘t be as many sets that work as well as those described above.
Before buying, inspect the picture carefully, the TV lines should at least still be recognizable. All rotary potentiometers should be ok so that you can move something on the picture with each potentiometer. Switch on the test grid and only one of the three colors at a time
