The Acer H6517ABD is a 3D-LED-BrilliantColor-DLP projector that brings 3400 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution alongside a contrast of 20000:1. According to Acer, the included lamp lasts up to 5000 hours. A daily usage of 2 hours makes an operational lifespan of 6.8 years possible. Looking at practical performance, up to 592 cm can be illuminated with 3400 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 395 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P as well as 3D. This model dates back to 2016 and is no longer part of Acer's current product range. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

I‘ve had the H6517 ABD in my basement movie theater for just over a year now. As the budget was already stretched with the receiver, speakers etc., I first looked for a cheaper FullHD 3D projector and came across the Acer. Mounted on the ceiling, connected and switched on. Everything is quite simple. Operation is simple and quick. It‘s very useful for our basement movie theater. It is darkened. It has its weaknesses in the light, but that was never our intention to use it in daylight. The fan noise is there and it‘s not exactly a whisper. But you have to bear in mind that it is a small projector and not a Sony device that costs a good 5 - 10 times as much, and we didn‘t notice any rainbow effect. Colors and brightness as well as sharpness etc. are all right. However, you should be aware of the price range in which you are playing with it and not expect performance from devices costing 2000 euros or more. So as an entry-level device with not too high expectations and still have a cinema feeling, it‘s fine, but the only thing that really annoys or bothers me, today 17.04.2020, I wanted to watch a movie in the basement and the lamp broke. I bought the device at the end of 2018 and put it into operation in February 2019, when I had finished building the cinema. The lamp had around 500 operating hours on it. I know this exactly because I only checked it last week. Now I‘ve just ordered a replacement lamp (not original) from Amazon at a cost of around 72 euros. Let‘s see how long it lasts. It can‘t get any worse. Because I find it very disappointing that the lamp has already given up the ghost. So I will certainly buy a 4K device in a few months, which are now available for less than 1700 euros.

Acer H6517ABD
Price Performance Top-Absolutely bright beamer (previously had an Acer 1213) no comparison, now finally Full HD and Full 3D with a super bright picture
I can only recommend it, only the meager connection options are perhaps a small limitation for some who still need a Chinese input. But this is not a minus point - this projector is simply a few euros cheaper than those with more connection options - if you watch via HDMI HD and 3D and operate the projector stationary, this is the best choice in the price range.
