The projector H5360 by Acer utilizes DLP technology and, according to the spec sheet, achieves 2500 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 3200:1 at a resolution of HDTV 1280 x 720. According to Acer, the lamp has a durability of 3000 hours. Looking at practical performance, up to 508 cm can be illuminated with 2500 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 339 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P. The projector was released in 2009 and is officially no longer distributed by Acer. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.

After approx. 800 hours of operation, the brightness has dropped by half, the device was recently cleaned by a company (them) and he said: he has never had such a tidy device... pure dust collector. Not only that, the individual pixels look like a starry sky, white dots like black on a white surface. The company that looked at the gäret should not be offered for the price. It is money wasted.

Correction
I have now realized WHEN this blurring occurs (particularly noticeable in writing). Not when the projector is not positioned horizontally, as I first assumed, but as soon as you use the keystone correction. I now take this into account when setting up.

Sharpness
I don‘t know whether this is only the case with mine or a general problem with the model:
Optimal, uniform sharpness is only achieved when the projector is absolutely horizontal. Any tilt up or down leads to a noticeable deterioration, even if that‘s how it‘s supposed to work (the feet are adjustable and the manual says it can be tilted 45 degrees), mine doesn‘t work well. Or... well, you can‘t necessarily see it with movies, but you can see it immediately with a text block. If the projector is tilted a little downwards or upwards, it‘s immediately garbage.

Unbeatable value for money
Have had mine since 2010 and am still satisfied. Sharpness could be a little better at 3.5 m diagonal, but the rest is OK, even the Eco mode is saved for me. Don‘t forget that we‘re talking about a device costing around 500 euros at the time, a full HD projector easily cost 1200-1500 euros without 120Hz / 3D! Send in the device! Acer offers a 5-year guarantee on the DLP IC.

Never again Acer. A complete flop
I bought the projector 1 year ago and the picture was always soft from the start. The dealer said that my projector wasn‘t hanging straight and wasn‘t mounted correctly. Or I must have adjusted the settings.
Then my buddy bought a DLP projector and we compared.... a difference like night and day. The Acer is not sharp.... According to tests on the Internet, the Acer‘s optics are inferior and degrade the picture. I sold the Acer on eBay at a high price and bought another used DLP and NOW I have a sharp picture. Acer uses plastic glass lenses and these reduce the sharpness of the DLP DarkChip. Never again such a MädelMarkt&Jupiter Markt device. No!

Picture ok at the beginning
I bought the projector 2 months ago. Always had a great picture. Until now the pixel errors appeared. Unfortunately outside the warranty period. The projector ran for 1000 hours. My next one will no longer be an Acer. I had a bad experience with an Acer Mobitor and now the projector has no durability either. The 4000h lamp life is no good, not to mention the poor service at Acer. One star only because of the very good picture and contrast for the first 2 years.

1A ,value for money
I bought the projector after my P1266 and am very satisfied. Large zoom range, high light output, very quiet, good illuminated remote control, calibrated very good colors, no rainbow effect as with DLP beamers and it has the 120Hz intermediate image calculation .3D and 4000 ST. Super, a clear recommendation to buy

HDMI 1.4 and 3D
what a load of garbage some people write here !!!
The projector accepts signals from an nVidia graphics card (nVision 3D). HDMI 1.4(a) is required to be able to signalize 3D material in side-by-side mode.
If the projector is supposedly only capable of HDMI 1.3, then either a fake has been purchased or the device should be exchanged due to buyer deception. (Or you should refrain from making false statements).

Also rather bad experiences
Good day,
I also had a lot of problems with the device and it was sent in for the third time.
I was also accused of water damage. I also know the problem with the light spots on a dark picture, but I was able to solve it by opening the device and blowing everything through a little with compressed air (carefully inserted). Dust should also be removed from the fan regularly. (However, this applies to all actively cooled devices in the household)
My next device is an Epson for 1500€, now sent with cheap stuff.

3 times sent in...
So, now that the device has been sent in for the 3rd time, I am being accused of water damage. ACER should have replaced the device now, so they just invent water damage and get out of it. It‘s a very common method and if you google "alleged water damage", you‘ll find 51,000 entries from a wide variety of companies
I‘ll keep my distance from ACER in future, that‘s enough for me.

After 1300 hours of operation, the device is sent in
I have several problems with my Acer H5360
1. Loud whirring after switching off.
2. Bright light spots when a uniform black picture should actually be visible.
3. Reactivation after operation is sometimes not possible. Device makes quiet noises, then beeps loudly 3 times and can only be restarted by pulling the power plug and plugging it in again. This can happen directly after switching off, but also many hours later.
4 Eco does not remain saved.
5 When changing the resolution, sometimes 30 attempts are required to retain the new resolution. This causes the picture to flicker every 2 seconds.
6. Frequent loss of the composite signal to which the reciver is connected. Wiggling the plug connected to the projector usually helps for a while.
7. color flickering in eco mode was also added. The colors are no longer displayed correctly when flickering. At first this only happened on the composite signal, now this error has also been added to the VGA mode.
The device is being returned today. Let‘s see if the next one will be an ACER again.

Unique value for money
I‘ve had the projector for more than a year. We use it as a TV, so every day, so it quickly gets a lot of hours of use.
pro:
I was initially concerned about the rainbow effect, none of our family can see any of it. The picture is gigantically good, the brightness is worlds better than my previous projectors, which is important for us as our picture is over 2.5 m wide. Above all, the price of a replacement lamp is very important to us. I used to pay around EUR 300 for replacement lamps, but for the H5360 I got a replacement lamp (without housing) for EUR 110. Our Acer H5360 has already clocked up 6000 operating hours, so the price of replacement lamps is important to us. The Acer H5360 shows ARD and ZDF HD in full native resolution, ARD and ZDF HD are not really full HD. The HD picture from ARD and ZDF is even better with the Acer H5360. I don‘t need real full HD because I don‘t want to and won‘t pay more than GEZ. I don‘t have Blu Ray either. That‘s why the Acer H5360 is perfect for us in terms of resolution. The Acer H5360 is virtually maintenance-free, there‘s no filter to clean and no dust build-up inside. We rarely use a vacuum cleaner to clean the ventilation slots.
contra:
The operating noise is tolerable, but audible. In eco mode, it is a little quieter, but also audible. My Acer H5360 always switches to normal brightness mode when restarting, i.e. the set eco mode is always deactivated again when restarting. After approx. 1500 operating hours, the brightness decreases noticeably, from then on the eco mode is no longer sufficient for us, so that the projector is then also somewhat louder. I can‘t install software updates myself, otherwise I could get the projector to keep the eco mode on restart even with the latest software
Conclusion:
The projector offers almost unbelievable performance for the purchase and operating costs. The picture is worlds better than my previous, much more expensive projectors. In my opinion, the Acer H5360 can be recommended without hesitation for everyday television use. In terms of size, the picture is worlds better than that of large LCD televisions, for example, which are ultimately not 2.5 m wide. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

HDMI 1.3 no 1080p? Comment on Franz Ferdinand!
According to Wiki, HDMI 1.0 could already do 1080p. But the projector is only capable of 720p anyway.
The Acer can maybe only process 1080i signals. I believe that players with HDMI 1.3 can only output Full HD 3D movies in 1080i. However, televisions or projectors seem to need HDMI 1.4 to output 3D movies in which a separate image is sent for each eye.
About a year ago, I was considering buying the Acer H5360 or the Benq W600. Both: same price and about the same specs. I decided on the Benq and Im quite satisfied, only the fan is a bit loud and the color setting is a bit tricky. I think the Acer is also highly recommended, especially for the price.

Acer H5360 - 3d Temporarily only with the computer
Here is some information about 3D
The Acer h5360 is 3d ready. This means that 3D material, which is output via a computer with the right Nvidea graphics card, can be perceived stereocopically.
The Acer H5360 and all other projectors under several thousand euros cannot currently receive a 3D signal from Blu-ray players. This is because 3D ready projectors cannot process the signal from Blu-ray players, the information is simply too much for the projector.
A converter from Optoma, which is due to go on sale in January 2011 and which should also be compatible with the Acer H5360, should provide a remedy.

No hdmi 1.4
The Acer does not have an hdmi 1.4 connection, but this is required for most Blue Ray 3D players
The projector unfortunately only has a 1.3 hdmi connection and there will most likely not be a firmware update that fixes this problem.
The only exception: The PS3 also only has a 1.3 hdmi connection and should be able to play movies and games in 3D with the latest firmware. However, the maximum resolution for 3D movies and games is then 720p.

How can I use the projector with a Blu-ray 3D player?
Hello,
I just bought the projector and a Blu-ray DVD player from Sony to go with it. Unfortunately, the Sony player keeps telling me that I need a 3D-enabled device. Ive already activated 3D three times in the projector menu, but its not working. As soon as I turn on the Blu-ray player, it says again that my output device is not 3D capable. How can that be?

After 7 months
Sooo,
so slowly but surely I‘m no longer sooo enthusiastic about the device.
Disadvantages that have only become apparent after a while are as follows:
1 Slight bright spots when a black picture is shown (even outside the picture).
2 Fans have become quite loud, we only watch in Eco mode
3 Eco mode has to be reset every time. (Main button, down, down, down, right, right, main button, I can do it in my sleep, but it‘s still annoying). Now I definitely know what to look out for when it comes to buying something like this again, but I‘ll contact my dealer about these problems, there‘s certainly something I can do about the warranty
Greetings Manuel

@ chris
To watch tv with the projector, you need a reciever.(plug antenna cable into reciever IN, hdmi cable from reciever to projector. done)
Caution: the projector has no scat connection, which has been replaced by hdmi. Older recievers may not have an hdmi but only a scat connection, in which case you will need to buy a scat to hdmi adapter. And connect like this.
(or connect via composite connection or with the yellow vga cable)
So
connect the antenna cable to the reciever, connect the reciever to the projector.

absolute buy recommendation
I bought the Acer projector as a replacement for my old tv. (I just wanted a new flat screen that would be big.) Then I realized that projectors are not necessarily more expensive than TVs with large screens. And the local dealer wanted to advise me not to use the projector as a TV, but confirmed that the picture quality does not get worse from TV to projector ("720p remains 720p whether TV or projector"). So it was clear to me that it would be a projector and not a flat screen. But which one?
I looked on the internet and ended up at the stereoforum site (in the meantime I noticed the acer 7530 for 999 e, then the acer 5360 for 599 e, which came onto the market a little later than the 7530 and is only hd ready, i.e. 720p. The acer 7530 can do full hd (1080p) (but the 5360 has a newer chip than the 7530).
In the stereoforum the acer 5360 was just discussed and only then I noticed that this projector is 3D capable. (In contrast to the more expensive 7530). Since I have a new pc with the right graphics card for 3D, I decided on the 5360. Quasi as an all-round projector (TV via hd-reciever, pc-games, Blue-Ray movies via pc and rarely DvD via DvD-player). I am completely satisfied with it
But I have to add that there is a problem with the eco mode. You have to set it every time you turn on the projector. But I don‘t think it‘s that bad.
I only give it 95 points because of the design. Could have been a bit more modern (in black or with a few embellishments or something)

Unfortunately I only have a comparison with the Liesegang DV610
but the device itself makes such a good impression that I don‘t regret the 600€.
Very bright picture at a distance of 3m from the wall, contrast is also great, noise is below my PC and is inaudible during the movie, so what more could you want.
The only thing that annoys me a bit is that if you have a black picture with white lettering and shake your head, the characters flicker in color, which unfortunately cannot be avoided due to the DLP technology.
Nevertheless, I think as a beginner in the home cinema hobby you are very well advised and the price of 120€ for a replacement lamp can be neglected, that you can buy a new device after 3000 hours
Greetings Manuel

simply great
The Acer H5360 is amazing. I only use it via the composite input, but the picture is still really sharp. Even on a woodchip wallpaper that is painted light blue, the colors are as natural as can be. The RGB effect only occurs when the brightness is set particularly high, but even then it is still bearable. I can recommend the projector to anyone who wants to enjoy home cinema for under 600 euros
Have fun watching!
