The PD120D model from Acer combines DLP technology in the Standard-Portabel sector with 2000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 2000:1 and a native XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. According to Acer, the lamp has a durability of 2000 hours. Regarding projection size, the value of 2000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 389 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 259 cm. The projector was released in 2006 and is officially no longer distributed by Acer.

Hello, I recently ordered the Acer PD120D (hereafter just the light monster) from a well-known Internet auction house.
Unpacking it is a real pleasure. The projector is packed safely in the standard carrying case, together with a wide range of cables that can be connected to pretty much any device. The device makes a high-quality impression, everything looks well-made and stable. Installation is extremely simple and only requires a quick glance at the quick start guide, if at all. Detailed instructions are included on a CD. Position the projector, connect the cable, switch on, start the output device (DVD player, console, computer, etc.). The device automatically searches for the input signal; if there are several sources, all you need to do is press the (Source) button. After pressing Power, a start-up melody plays and a glistening, bright Acer start-up screen appears (which can be changed at any time in the settings menu). I first had to check whether the projector was running at all, as it is shockingly quiet. The stated 31dB sound more than they are. Even after several hours (8-9h) of uninterrupted use, the light monster remains pleasingly quiet. It conjures up a razor-sharp, high-contrast, bright image on any flat and reasonably monochrome surface. Even in a brightly lit room, the picture is clearly visible; in Ecomode, all you need to do is close the curtains. This reduces the noise level even further; from a distance of two meters or with a low background noise level, the device is no longer perceptible.
Configuration is quick and easy via the OSD (One Screen Display). In addition to all kinds of languages, German is also included. Keystone correction is performed digitally using the remote control or the buttons on the device. You also have the option of selecting different color profiles and creating your own. For example, you can compensate for color distortions due to the projected surface
Once everything is finally set and configured as desired, you can look forward to a great picture. The projector has a manual zoom and focus to adjust the size and sharpness. Even at great distances from the wall, the picture remains bright and sharp; a maximum picture diagonal of 7.5 m is said to be possible, but I haven‘t tried this yet. However, I did notice one small drawback, which is common with DLP projectors: the typical rainbow effect is visible on bright areas in the picture if you move your eyes quickly over the picture. However, this hardly bothers me as you don‘t really notice it after a short time.
In conclusion, I can absolutely recommend the projector if you are looking for an inexpensive device with high brightness, low noise level and pin-sharp images for home use. Especially as the replacement lamps are not really expensive at 160€ on the Internet.

Comparison to PD100?
Hello, has anyone been able to compare the PD 120D with the PD100? You can‘t find prices for a replacement lamp yet (or can you use the one from the 100?)...
