Based on LCD technology, the Epson EH TW9000 / W device delivers 2400 ANSI lumens, a resolution of HDTV 1920 x 1080 and a contrast of 200000:1 as a projector. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 5000 hours before a replacement is necessary. A daily usage of 2 hours makes an operational lifespan of 6.8 years possible. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction. The amount of leeway the lens provides can be checked in the Distance Calculator. A look at the light output reveals: The 2400 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 498 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 332 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P as well as 3D are supported. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. This model dates back to 2011 and is no longer part of Epson's current product range. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

The device is about 3 years (2013)and 3000 lamp hours old. A vertical green stripe has appeared in the left third for about 1/2 year. Now and then a second vertical green stripe appears in the center of the picture. I assume that the device will be broken after 4 yrs. Operation will be broken! Not acceptable at a purchase price of €3k!

Very good in 2D, best 3D
I have been using the device for 1 week with the firmware upgrade 1.04. The positioning flexibility with a wide zoom range and large horizontal and vertical lens shift is only achieved by a few other devices. Contrast and black level are very good, even if there may be better devices out there. The colors were slightly reddish when uncalibrated, which can easily be corrected. The adaptive shutter is a little annoying when the background sound is low, but it is usually drowned out or can be switched off without any significant loss of quality. The fan is very quiet in Eco mode and cannot be heard when the sound is quiet and at a distance of 1m. The picture sharpness was disappointing "out of the box" and no better than my old 720p DLP (which is still very good and of course has perfect convergence with 1 chip). Correcting the strongly incongruent red area in the convergence menu (which is easy to do even for normal users, the activation code is now freely available) then resulted in a very sharp picture. The 3D picture in my Batcave (100", gain 1.2, 3D cinema mode with medium brightness) is outstandingly bright and now, with the firmware update, absolutely flicker- and judder-free, as I have only ever seen with passive systems. I only rarely noticed ghosting in critical scenes. The lack of FI in 3D is not a shortcoming, at least with BD material; in 2D it works perfectly, with NTSC DVDs the 3/2 pulldown is reversed in stage 1 and camera pans are super smooth. All in all, an excellent all-rounder at a sensational price that I can recommend without reservation.

Excellent
Picture is in 2D without any jerking and the contrast (even with the iris switched off) is very good. I don‘t know of any projector that has a better black level. In the 3D range it is also very convincing and perfectly adequate and pleasant at image widths of up to 3 meters. All in all, half a deduction because the setting options in the 3D range are very limited and another half a deduction because the convergence correction menu is not accessible to the average user.

Perfect
WLAN HD works wonderfully
The picture is super bright and clear.
I couldn‘t notice any jerking either in 2D or 3D mode.
Unfortunately, lens memory is missing otherwise I would have awarded 5 stars.

There‘s still room for improvement....
The only thing that really impressed me was the Wi-Fi transmission: the picture is noticeably jerky in 2D and 3D. I also don‘t think the contrast is great. You can clearly hear the iris as well as the fan.
