This projector is named EMP 1700, originates from Epson, and its data sheet shows 2200 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 400:1 and a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 2000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 2200 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 408 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 272 cm. This model dates back to 2006 and is no longer part of Epson's current product range. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.
Standard-Portabel | External training and company presentations, as well as product presentations. Medium screen width or rooms with little light, max. 100 lumens.
the emp-1700 is the entry into epson‘s 1700 series. the others have a few more gimmicks (w-lan or usb control) but the picture is absolutely perfect with the e-torl lamp. the projector is really super compact and light. so it‘s always with me when I go on vacation or want to watch soccer at a friend‘s house. it weighs less than my laptop. it produces a great picture across the entire screen, even in daylight, if the sunlight isn‘t shining on the projection surface (white wallpaper is enough for now and as a quick emergency solution without major compromises). i normally use the eco function to increase the lamp life and because the fan noise then becomes stronger. it‘s ready for use in a minute with 2 cables and doesn‘t even need the usual cooling phase via the fan after switching off. the lens protection is also well solved with a simple sliding screen. for everything i use it for (films, soccer in the garden, a few lectures) it‘s simply an ingenious device.
the negatives are:
- the somewhat complicated feet, which are a bit fiddly to adjust when you want to adjust the height, other manufacturers have solved this better
- the louder fan noise if you don‘t use the eco mode and
- the quiet quacky sound if you don‘t use external speakers - that‘s only good enough for lectures but not for films.
