Model Overview The projector HC7800D by Mitsubishi operates as a 3D-BrilliantColor-DLP device with 1500 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution and a contrast of 100000:1. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 2000 hours for this projector's lamp.
The specifications indicate lens shift optics, allowing the image to be physically shifted without digital image artifacts. The Lens Shift Calculator is available for room planning.
Regarding projection size, the value of 1500 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 393 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 262 cm.
In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P as well as 3D. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance.

5 Stars 3D-Reference
I have been looking for a new projector for six months and was torn between the SONY HW50 and the Mitsubishi 7800. After many sessions and evaluations, I have to say that the Mitsubishi is by far the better device as far as 3D is concerned, which is why it has recently been placed under the ceiling in my home theater. It hardly shows any weaknesses in terms of crosstalking/ghosting and has better brightness and colors than the HW50. And it now costs almost 1/3 of the Sony without glasses. I played around a bit with the adaptive IRIS aperture and I have to say that at setting 2, the 2D image doesn‘t have to hide from the much more expensive SXRD/Lcos devices! Nevertheless, in my opinion, the device shows small weaknesses in the black level, hence a half point deduction.

3 Stars 3D very good, 2d well...
Nowadays you still have far more than 90% 2D content, so the really good 3d presentation of the Mitsu doesn‘t help too much. Unfortunately, the glasses have an unusably small "viewing window" and are too heavy for prolonged use. The 2D display is unfortunately not comparable with current SXRD/ Lcos devices (contrast and black level) and the iris is obtrusive (audible) and produces visible image errors... The positioning flexibility is unfortunately also very limited (due to the unusable and manual lens shift)...

4 Stars Great device with minor flaws
The HC7800 is a really great device, but unfortunately the promised lens shift is not really usable, and the difference to the Optoma HD83 is not really visible, because it also works excellently in 3D mode with the W-LAN glasses. Another point of criticism is the rather expensive 3D glasses
All in all a great device for professionals.

5 Stars Go for it! Best 2D/3D overall package at the moment.
A great piece.

In my opinion, currently the best all-rounder in 3D and 2D.

3D is hard to beat at the moment. Nice and bright, no ghosting. The LCD and LCoS devices are no competition at the moment, as they either flicker, show ghosting or are too dark.

In 2D, the Mitsubishi does a lot better than the direct DLP competitor Optoma HD83. The HC7800D is quieter and the contrast with iris at level 3 and sharpness at level 2-3 is simply fantastic, even in direct comparison with the LCoS projectors, which are outstanding in this discipline.

Overall, this projector, in contrast to all the other candidates in its price and function class, has no significant weaknesses in its display. The only criticism is the limited installation flexibility with only vertical (and not recommendable, since it affects the image) lens shift.
