The VPL HW10 is a Laser-SXRD projector by Sony, whose specifications list 1000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 30000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 3000 hours. In terms of image alignment, the model offers an optical lens shift function, allowing the image to be shifted without quality loss. The exact adjustment leeway can be calculated in the Projector Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 1000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 321 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 214 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 22 decibels. The projector was released in 2008 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. The best device on the market for this price. Absolutely PRECIOUS! To find a better device you have to pay twice as much.

Top device - really top !
Have swapped my Optoma HD800x for a VPL HW10 and haven‘t regretted it to this day, with perfect calibration the black level can be topped again to 0.01 lumens, the contrast is perfect. Larger image widths can also be illuminated superbly. The SXRD technology makes it possible and conjures up a great picture on the screen, I was actually always a DLP advocate but the Sony deserves great praise, of course it can always be better, but not at this price.....TOP !!!!!

The best for me!
Compared to LCD and DLP projectors, the HW10 achieves a significantly better image, which you would otherwise only get for twice the money. At least thats my impression.
Finally, an image that is really plastic, clean and without a screen door effect.
The solutions of some LCD projectors to counter this effect with an optical offset of the pixels dont look half as good as this. Top !
In the forum I never tired of emphasizing the advantages of past Sony projectors and made myself unpopular with moderators and dealers alike - the latter hardly earn anything from Sony projectors and then denounce them as not being good. As a result, I was banned several times !
Luckily, a rethink has taken place and the HW 10 is selling like hot cakes. The top projector 2008/2009 - unsurpassed in the P/L ratio and clearly ahead of more expensive devices such as the AE 3000 or Z3000 in terms of performance. But the gap to the top is also there, a TW 5000 is clearly better and an HD 350 anyway.
