Based on LCD technology, the Sony VPL CX86 device delivers 3000 ANSI lumens, a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768 and a contrast of 350:1 as a projector. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. To compensate for angled projection positions, the model features 2D keystone correction, which digitally corrects trapezoidal distortion. Looking at practical performance, up to 477 cm can be illuminated with 3000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 318 cm. Also on board is a local media player that allows reading and playing content directly from storage media. This model dates back to 2005 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range.
