The Sony VPL HS3 is a Laser-LCD projector offering 900 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 800:1 and a resolution of WVGA 858 x 484. According to Sony, the lamp has a durability of 2000 hours. The image geometry can be adjusted via the built-in keystone correction so that a clean, rectangular display is achieved even with non-ideal placement. Looking at practical performance, up to 305 cm can be illuminated with 900 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 203 cm. With a value of only 28 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. This model dates back to 2003 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range. Important maintenance note: It is no longer possible to procure replacement lamps for this model.
