The basic data of the Sony VPL VW40 includes 900 ANSI lumens, a resolution of HDTV 1920 x 1080 as well as a contrast of 15000:1. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 2000 hours for this projector's lamp. To facilitate room installation, the device is equipped with mechanical lens shift and additional keystone correction. Precise setup distances can be determined in the Projector Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 305 cm can be illuminated with 900 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 203 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. This model dates back to 2008 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.
Have had the projector for some time now. Still a great picture. Really crisp on a 2.80 m diagonal. Needs a really dark room, of course.

Great workmanship
Have had the projector for four years and still love it. Paid 1800,- and it was worth every cent.

not quite !
Must actually agree with the previous speaker. I own a VW 50 and had the VW 40 at home for viewing. So inside everything is 100% identical. The panels are supposed to be different but otherwise it‘s probably 99% a VW 50.
But that doesn‘t change the fact that it‘s a very good projector. Black level, contrast, colors, clarity all at top level. The picture impression is most comparable with the TW 2000. The catalog data is 100% identical to that of the VW 50.

Fake !
Nothing more than a VW 50 with a new type designation ! Sony knows how to annoy customers!
