The VPL HS2 is a Laser-LCD projector by Sony, whose specifications list 1000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 600:1 and a WVGA 858 x 484 resolution. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. To compensate for angled projection positions, the model features 2D keystone correction, which digitally corrects trapezoidal distortion. Regarding projection size, the value of 1000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 321 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 214 cm. As an additional feature, an integrated media player enables the direct playback of files without an external source device. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 30 decibels. The projector was released in 2002 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. Note: According to our information, replacement lamps (original or generic) are no longer available for this projector.
