With the PLV Z1X, Sanyo offers a LCD projector that features 700 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 1000:1 and a resolution of WSVGA 960 x 540. According to Sanyo, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. Thanks to the combination of optical lens shift and digital keystone correction, the projected image's position can be adjusted very flexibly. The Lens Shift Calculator helps find the optimal installation dimensions. Regarding projection size, the value of 700 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 269 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 179 cm. With a value of only 27 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. This model dates back to 2004 and is no longer part of Sanyo's current product range. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.

I bought the projector second-hand for just under 200€ at the beginning of the year, if you don‘t use HD players such as Bluray and Co, this older device is definitely an option.
It produces a great picture at a distance of about 2.50m with a diagonal of about 170cm.
For home cinema, this projector is definitely 100 times better than the current devices in the 300-400€ class. The black level is not perfect, but not objectionable in a reasonably darkened room. The device currently costs 100-150€ used on Ebay and is well worth the investment if the budget doesn‘t allow for anything else ;-)
The lens can be closed at the front by the flap, which saves you some trouble with dust and so on, for cleaning there is a kind of mini air pump included with which you can easily remove dust from the panels. (There are easily accessible flaps for this, the projector does not have to be opened)
Super quality device!

Better than the z1
After having a z1 for 2 years, I bought a used z1x at the end of 08 for 300eur.
I can only agree with the tester from 2005: the z1x is quiet and has a very good picture for home theater.
Unfortunately, it is only available cheaply as a discontinued model or second-hand. But then you have to pay attention to the condition and the lamp hours that have expired

The best LCD in the lower price range !
I bought the Z1X for 695 euros as a second projector for the bedroom. After some initial reservations, I was quickly convinced otherwise. I also own the Z3, which receives the picture via HMDI in 720p from the Denon 1920. My Z1X receives the picture from the LG DV 9900H via YUV in 720p. Thanks to the excellent LG, the picture is simply fantastic and is hardly inferior to my Z3/Denon combo. There are really only nuances that separate the two. For one thing, the picture on the Z1X isn‘t quite as sharp as on the other combo and the black level isn‘t quite as excellent. Watching TV is not quite as much fun, as the picture somehow flickers a little all the time. However, it can be recommended for DVD evenings without any restrictions. What else can I say, it‘s simply perfect for a small budget and much better than some projectors that cost twice as much. Contrast/good, colors/very good
