Known as the PLC XP57E, this LCD projector by Sanyo features basic specs of 5500 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 1000:1 at a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 1500 hours. To facilitate room installation, the device is equipped with mechanical lens shift and additional keystone correction, allowing the projected image to be positioned with immense flexibility. The specifications identify the device as a model with an interchangeable lens option. Matching optional optics allow for exact adaptation to the required image size and projection distance, which can be calculated directly with the Projector Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 646 cm can be illuminated with 5500 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 431 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. Since entering the market in 2006, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.

The predecessors of the PLC-XP57L still used microlens technology to achieve brightness. This led to high brightness values due to a special, pixel-precise light bundling; however, this had a disadvantageous effect on the lifespan of the panels. The 3LCD panels used in the PLC-XP57L optimize light output even without microlens technology. In addition, the individual panels are protected against premature wear by a special coating and the previous “Achilles heel”, the blue panel, by an improved cooling system.
