The basic data of the Sanyo PLV Z1 includes 700 ANSI lumens, a resolution of WSVGA 964 x 544 as well as a contrast of 800:1. According to Sanyo, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction. The amount of leeway the lens provides can be checked in the Projector Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 269 cm can be illuminated with 700 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 179 cm. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 28 decibels. The projector was released in 2002 and is officially no longer distributed by Sanyo. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.

The de-interlacer does not have a movie mode.
The Z1BL BL= blue model was presented at CeBit 2003, a green and a red model were also on display (see pictures below).
Dug it out again yesterday and fitted a new lamp. Runs like day 1

Have been using it for 13/14 years. :)
Warm-up phase takes about 10 minutes to get full brightness. (Picture appears greenish at the beginning)
Plastic still smells when heat is generated during operation.
Still the first lamp in operation.
The picture, in comparison with a 4k TV of course not to compare.
But even without direct comparison, my friends are still enthusiastic about the picture quality today!
Still one of the best projectors!

Sanyo Z1
I have had the Z1 for a good 3 years and am very satisfied with it. The picture via YUV from the HK22 is great in my opinion. I also like the S-Video feed from the Pana RA 61. I‘m still using the first lamp (approx. 600 hours)
Fly screen ?! hasn‘t bothered me yet (as no direct comparison in my own 4 walls)
Wish would be the Z4 and then in conjunction with a digital feed from a new DVD player
