Based on DLP technology, the InFocus X16 projects images in a Standard-Portabel environment, with technical specs listing 2400 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 1400:1 and a SVGA 800 x 600 resolution. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 4000 hours, achieving a lifespan of 5.5 years when used for 2 hours a day. Looking at practical performance, up to 427 cm can be illuminated with 2400 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 285 cm. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 29 decibels. The projector was released in 2008 and is officially no longer distributed by InFocus.

Beamer Infocus X16
Hello
I have had the Infocus X16 for about 2 months and am totally satisfied with the great and sharp picture. The lamp has about 230 hours in eco mode down but the picture flickers a little does anyone know why? The lamp is new as I said..and when I unplug the VGA cable and the blue screen comes up on the projector nothing flickers anymore. Would be grateful for help :) Thanks

Absolutely recommended for home use.
Hello, first of all, kudos to this site. Without it, I would have been in a real fix. I bought the X16 for very little money to actually test out what a projector would be like in my living room. Now Ive packed the TV in the bedroom and only watch TV in the living room via the projector. Great football evenings and my wifes soaps come across well. The background noise is kept within limits, I have it on a shelf directly above the sofa. All in all, a great thing. Hope the bulb delivers what it promises. I also have it running in eco mode, which is perfectly sufficient. Its not HD, but if youre that demanding, youll have to look in a different price category anyway.

Nachtrag Super Preis-Leistung
Begzüglich Lüftergeräusch ist folgesndes zu sagen:
Habe den Beamer an der Decke hängen und das Sofa steht genau darunter. The fan is audible with quiet DVDs. But as I‘m quite sensitive to background noise, I simply screwed a sideboard to the wall and put books on it. Sound is reflected or absorbed quite well.

Super price-performance
I bought the projector 2 weeks ago in the online store plus screen (220) and long video cable you get a super one-time package! And if the lamp is broken, there are certainly HD projectors for the money.
The resolution is sufficient for DVDs, rainbow effect is sometimes clearly visible, but doesn‘t bother me personally. Inputs are also sufficient for laptop, DVBT and DVD, although a SCART connection would certainly be helpful.
The room should be quite dark, thick curtains or blinds should be available, especially in summer.
Conclusion: Nothing for people with high demands or a PS3 or Blueray player, but for someone who doesn‘t want to spend too much definitely the better choice over a flat screen TV for 400 euros!

Better than expected
I bought this device although I read a lot about its disadvantages in advance, but I was positively surprised that the fan noise is not as strong as described in economy mode Picture quality is perfectly sufficient for home use (for the average user) and the sound comes to me anyway via external devices (laptop - DVD player)
The only drawback are the inputs, a few more would not have been bad
Other than that I can only recommend it to others

I got the projector from Sparhandy.de
moin, I got the projector from sparhandy.de with a 24 month contract which costs 7.50€ basic fee (180€ total cost for the device)
is my first so far, HD TV doesn‘t interest me at the moment either, I use it to watch movies, TV picture and picture via VGA are great, I found the supplied VGA cable much too short.
I have adjusted it to about 2.20m from the wall and 4m from the wall and the picture is very good to see in a slightly darkened room.
The noise development is limited (since you make something louder during a movie anyway).
to connect scat: there are scat to chinch or scat to svga adapters everywhere.
almost unbeatable in price/performance.

X Box 360? i ?
Hi guys,
has anyone ever run an X Box 360 through a projector? What does that actually mean (computer compatibility: VGA(640×480), SVGA(800×600), XGA(1024×768), SXGA(1280×1024)
Video compatibility: NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, SECAM, SDTV(480i/576i), EDTV(480p/756p), HDTV(720p1080i). Doesn‘t it have HDTV for a box? Can someone explain all the abbreviations to me?

For DVD OK
Have had the Infocux X16 for a few days. It stands on the living room cupboard on a kind of ramp construction.
The resolution is OK for DVD, as the DVD resolution is still lower than that of the projector. At a sitting distance of 3 m and a picture width of approx. 2.4 m, I can only see slight pixels in bright pictures. I can‘t say whether an expensive projector delivers better pictures with the same poor source material. But it‘s only a minor nuisance.
I‘m thinking of buying a new, more technically advanced projector when the lamp breaks.
But I can watch 2 hours of movies a night for 2000 days, which is almost 6 years :-)
The technology will be much more advanced by then.

I noticed something else...
Moin,
yes, I also mounted it upside down. Let‘s put it this way, it‘s upside down on my cabinet just below the ceiling. (On a foam mat from the computer area)
You can even run it at 1024 to 768 with 85 hearts!!!
In first person shooters it is possible to change the resolution in the game to 1280x1024.
With this I unfortunately have to revise my opinion... the projector is fully suitable for first-person shooters with this resolution :-) However, I have also bought a wireless mouse and keyboard set because it works best from the couch :)
I really don‘t regret the purchase, I can‘t understand the quick test of a certain foundation (try google)...
Really the only reason not to buy here is the lack of HD capability... but as I said... what do I care in a year‘s time. So you can always wait anyway :)
When making a purchase decision (HD projector or not...), google the prices for HD projector replacement lamps... it‘s simply out of proportion to non-HD at the moment. My opinion!
So now it hangs free-floating under the ceiling and it even looks good!
Battlefield2 can also be played well! even first-person shooter games are no problem
if you do without some resolution
Thanks for the tip with the 75 Hz!

Hi,
Another addendum:
The installation positions of the device are somewhat limited...
For example, it is not possible (at least not cleverly) to place the projector on a shelf and beam down from above
So if the projector is to stand overhead then it has to hang. But then again that works quite well

another tip...
As I said, the projector is perfectly adequate for current television and dvds. If, like me, you control it via a computer, you should set the refresh rate to 75 Hz. that‘s a real improvement. The standard setting is 50 Hz, which flickers pretty badly. Via DVB-T you get a great TV picture that is in no way inferior to a tube. only much bigger :)
Have now almost 40 hours down. Shooters are not so exciting due to the low resolution. Racing games, on the other hand, look simply stunning :)
I‘m already looking forward to my first soccer game hehe

80 / 20
Hi,
so this projector fully fulfills the 80% 20% rule. 20% cost (300€) 80% performance
The volume is ok. Possibly disturbing for silent movies. I‘m going to put it on a board on the wall, as the residual sound will still be reflected upwards (where there is insulation). In bright mode it is already unpleasant because of the fan.
The lamp is well suited in eco mode to show a dark movie.
I don‘t see the RBE effect with the projector (and I have good eyes!), or I didn‘t notice it.
SVHS, chinch and 15 pin VGA are enough for me (since I don‘t watch blueray or have a PC with DVI anyway).
The resolution is absolutely sufficient for normal movies.
Even with my calculation of about 2 hours a day (I never do that!!) I get 5.5 years of lamp life... my God.... It‘s totally OK if the lamp costs 200 stones, isn‘t it?
I find the lens a disadvantage.
The zoom touch is very low and the focusing does not work over the entire range. The protective cap is also poorly designed. You move the lens when you put it on or take it off.
There is also a digital zoom (approx. factor 1 to 2) but then the quality suffers somewhat. All others are welcome to put exorbitantly more money on the table to get more.
The ceiling mounting can be done via 3 threads on the underside.
All in all absolutely ok the beamer.

I bought it on Monday...
Hi everyone,
I bought it spontaneously on Monday in Plus. I‘ve been toying with the Infocus x6 for a long time, also because the replacement lamps are very cheap to get, as with this device (<200 euros with 4000 hours of service life)
My conclusion so far is positive. Great for watching DVDs. Of course not completely sharp due to the resolution but quite satisfactory. Just an everyday projector. Projecting from a distance of 4 meters onto a white wall. The picture is really huge *G
I‘m guessing it‘s almost 3 meters wide.
I think I‘ll survive the breakthrough of HD TV with this device. What do I care if the HD TV doesn‘t arrive for another year. Then I can still get an HD projector. At this price... I can recommend it, even if you interpolate to 1024, websites are still easy to read.
You can also play games with it, I tested it with COD 4 and Crysis... of course not as brilliant as with the 1600 resolution of my 22 inch, but the picture is impressive due to the sheer size :)
Will be getting a race driver grid soon, I think racing games come across really well on it. I‘m already looking forward to GTA 4 with the projector :)
If you have any questions, just ask...

tomorrow it‘s going back to Plus
Hello everyone,
Packed up the projector again today.
I‘m sure it will be enough just for watching movies and playing games from time to time, but unfortunately technology is advancing far too quickly, so I‘ll be returning it tomorrow.
In a year there will certainly be projectors in this price range that can also do HDTV (and are not only compatible), I‘ll wait for that and then I‘ll buy it.
-I wish everyone else who is satisfied with this projector lots of fun with it.
I personally wouldn‘t recommend my friends to buy it.
Greetings
Frank

RE: scrolling? and resolution
Hello,
scrolling within Internet pages, left, right, as most Internet pages in 800 x 600 do not fit completely into one picture when displayed sharply.
As the projector only supports 800 x 600 pixels, unfortunately anything above this resolution will lead to blurring, even at 1024 x 768, -only at the real resolution (800 x 600) will the picture, the writing be really clear and without blurring.
So there is only one thing to do here, either set it to 800 x 600 and be satisfied with a sharp picture with scrolling, -or use higher unsupported resolutions at the price of blurring and illegibility, so that most pages are displayed in full.
Otherwise I think the performance of the projector should not be underestimated, especially considering the price, but I will still consider returning the projector due to the higher number of pixels and resolution, which will become more and more important in the future, with this projector you are simply excluded from real HDTV.
Greetings
beamerterminator

?SCROLL?
why do you have to scroll?
I have connected the projector directly to the PC using an adapter (DVI to VGA).
The resolution set on my PC is adopted without any problems - 1024x768
a very sharp picture and scrolling
I only know about scrolling from my LCD TV when the resolution of the graphics card was not set correctly.
You have to clone the picture to the 2nd output of the card.
otherwise you can return the part to PLUS ....... for 1 month.

Price good, more pixels would be better, a bit noisy
Hello everyone,
I got the device from Plus today too, initially I thought it was good, normal movies are also good in terms of quality, only when it comes to details a few more pixels would be better.
PC almost has to be run in 800 x 600 resolution for the projector to produce a legible image (i.e. you have to keep scrolling (left, right) to see the entire screen content).
Will continue testing the projector for now, maybe I‘ll write something about it then.

I bought it....
I bought the X16 today for €299 at Plus
Set up (provisionally) connected to the PC - SUPER!!!
Menu is good and vieseitig.
The video image on my slightly yellow Rhaufaser wallpaper is brilliant for a projector in this price range. (Our 2-year-old projector at work, which cost €2000 at the time, doesn‘t produce a better picture despite the screen!!!! )
Despite daylight, the picture was good even in ECO mode - to be found in the lamp settings!
The background color of the wallpaper can be adjusted for automatic correction.
The ZOOM is well ..... almost non-existent!
Geiles Teil.
Funktioniert auch mit meiner Wii ohne Probleme. MarioKart in 1:1 size is simply unbeatable!!!!
ResidentEvil4 will be tested tonight ;-)
so then.

Considering buying the X16
Hello,
I‘m also thinking of buying the X16 from Plus - can it do ceiling projection? Does it have zoom, does it have sound? - There are a lot of unanswered questions here. I also have my eye on the Acer 1160z as an alternative (319.00 online price) - it has also received good reviews here. Does anyone have any comparative experience? I am grateful for all suggestions and opinions.

Answer for Infocus x16
Hello Zappel!
Answers to your questions: very few projectors have a TV cable connection. Usually you use a satellite receiver, a D-Box or a TV card in the PC that receives the TV signal. The respective device then forwards the signal to the projector via SVHS cable, for example.
You can use Dolby Sourround, Dolby Digitata or DTS with this projector, because the projector is not responsible for the sound at all!!! The easiest way to use it is with an AV receiver. A surround sound amplifier that has video and audio inputs and outputs and can manage them. Please contact me again if you have any questions.

Infocus x16
Hello my question is,can you watch TV normally with the Infocus x16 projector? I didn‘t see an input for the TV cable on the picture on the back and I also wonder if a Dolby sorround system can be connected? Finally, how good is the quality of the projector?
