Equipped with DLP technology, the Samsung SP A8000 offers 1000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 10000:1 and is designed as a versatile projector. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 1500 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 1000 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 321 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 214 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P as well as 3D are supported. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 30 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. The projector was released in 2010 and is officially no longer distributed by Samsung.

The projector is rather quiet, produces a nice, pleasantly bright image. Skin tones are not always perfect, but overall the picture is quite good. Energy consumption is a little high and lamp life a little low, but that‘s probably the price to pay. It doesn‘t always seem to get 24p quite right. 3D images also look good, but not flicker-free, so I would clearly see the strengths in the 2D area. All in all, a nice movie theater feeling.
