With the ddv 1800, Liesegang offers a DLP projector that features 1800 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 400:1 and a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 2000 hours. For precise setup, the device features a lens shift mechanism that allows for purely optical image shifting. The specifications identify the device as a model with an interchangeable lens option. Matching optional optics allow for exact adaptation to the required image size and projection distance, which can be calculated directly with the Distance Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 1800 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 369 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 246 cm. Since entering the market in 2000, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. Important maintenance note: It is no longer possible to procure replacement lamps for this model.

I have owned a DDV 1800 for years and can only say that the projector does what really matters, namely delivering a good picture, really well. Homogeneous illumination, bright picture, razor-sharp.
Good, others can now do the contrast range better and there are certainly also quieter projectors; but if, for example, a large picture at a short projection distance is required, there are not many alternatives in my opinion. Unfortunately, the device is no longer being built and the supply of spare parts (lamps...) is certainly not getting any better.
Question to the experts at HCinema:
I would like to operate the device upright and redirect the image using a high-quality mirror. Is this advantageous due to the spatial situation (the device could then disappear into a screen when not in use...).
What about the heat development (chimney effect) in such devices? Are the fans strong enough to dissipate the heat?
