The Yamaha LPX 500 is a LCD projector that brings 800 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1280 x 720 resolution alongside a contrast of 800:1. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 3000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 800 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 287 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 191 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. With a value of only 30 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. Since entering the market in 2002, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
Very good projector in terms of image display, black level and noise level. However, there is no eco mode. Unfortunately, the projector is also at war with HDCP (not yet available at the time of release). YAMAHA itself doesn‘t offer any retrofitting options (help - I had paid over €4000), which means that DVI playback is problematic. If you don‘t like a noisy PC in the living room when watching DVDs and still want to enjoy the native resolution of 720p digitally, you should take a closer look at the oppo OPDV971h-E. But the picture is also really great via YUV. My conclusion: still a good projector, but HDTV only possible with detours.

The projector produces an impeccable picture with a great black level.
Unfortunately, it does not support the HDCP signal, but although it has a DVI input, it can only be used via a computer. However, it produces a perfect picture via YUV. 2 years ago I paid 2750 € for it as a new device, but it can still keep up well with many of the latest generation projectors.

Question about Eco Mode
Under special features you have listed Eco Mode for this projector, but there is no reference to it in the enclosed operating instructions. Can you help me further? Please reply to spreitzer@haryseyr.at
Ansonst I am very satisfied (good color reproduction and great black level, very good HDTV display) so I can only recommend this projector (if still available somewhere)
