As a projector, the Optoma TS551 combines DLP technology with a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600, and is additionally specified with 2800 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 3500:1. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 5000 hours for this projector's lamp – mathematically sufficient for 6.8 years based on two hours of use per day. Regarding projection size, the value of 2800 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 461 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 307 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 30 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. Since entering the market in 2011, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
